Part-Time Van Driver
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Van Driver will be responsible for safe, courteous, and efficient transportation for members to and from the Clubhouse as well as other Clubhouse-sponsored activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED. Previous experience and training in transportation is a plus.
2. Possess a valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record.
3. Satisfactory completion of agency Driving Evaluation
4. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
5. Ability to read to manage traffic signs, addresses, maps, maintenance checklists, etc.
6. Ability to perform math operations to use money/credit card, calculate distance, and fuel.
7. Ability to apply good judgment and safety to deal with situations that may arise during transportation.
8. Good moral character as defined by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services.
9. Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check and drug screen.
10. Be at least 25 years old, per auto insurers' stipulations.
11. Lived experience with behavioral health issues is a desired qualification.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide transportation for members to and from the Clubhouse as well as other Clubhouse-sponsored activities in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner.
2. Comply with agency procedures and State driving laws.
3. Demonstrate safety in the operation of vehicles and concern for the safety of passengers.
4. Be able to work with diverse groups of people, in a pleasant and hospitable manner.
5. Managing daily transportation routes.
6. Act as a positive representative of Touchstone Services, Inc.
7. Assure passengers are secured by safety belts, as the law requires.
8. Assist those passengers who require it in and out of the vehicle.
9. Communicate with Clubhouse about any service disruption.
10. Fuel vehicles as needed.
11. Monitor and report any noted repair needs and hazardous situations immediately to the Clubhouse Director.
12. Complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, climb into the van, stoop, talk, and hear. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
2. Ability to move around the community.
3. Ability to drive a vehicle.
4. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and a moderate level of noise.
5. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
6. Ability to physically support members getting into and out of the vehicle.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Van Driver is accountable to the Clubhouse Director
EVALUATION:
Evaluations will be given by the Clubhouse Director at least annually, or
more frequently if deemed necessary.
